The “Widow Walk Suite”

Attached is one of the movements in Tom McGurk’s Widow Walk Suite, composed for the audio book version of Widow Walk.

I will post one of the sections from John Aylward’s beautiful narration in the next blog entry.

The audio book for Widow Walk is scheduled to be released in January.

Thomas McGurk, composer of “The Widow Walk Suite”  began his formal music training at the University of Massachusetts (Lowell campus) where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sound Recording Technology/Music Performance. He received the young Alumni of The Year Award in 1998. After college, he moved to Seattle and began working at Bad Animals/Seattle as a sound engineer and composer for music, film, and television productions.

Thomas’s combined talents in sound design and composing earned him an opportunity to work on the innovative television program Disney presents: Bill Nye the Science Guy . Over the next five years, he went on to receive seven National Emmy Awards for his work on Nye  in sound design and mixing. He also post-scored musical vignettes on the Disney show, showcasing his skills in musical styles ranging from Hip-Hop to Wagner.

In June 1999, Thomas joined Mike McAuliffe, Dave Howe, and Seattle entrepreneur Charlie Nordstrom in acquiring Bad Animals/Seattle. He has since designed and built a custom music studio at the facility boasting state-of-the-art technology for music scoring and composition. He is also an adjunct Professor of Music Technology at the Art Institute of Seattle
